Studying science at Fountain Gate Primary School aims to stimulate students’ curiosity about the world and offers them opportunities to investigate and discover explanations.

It engages students through experimentation and modelling. They learn to question and discuss issues that may affect their day to day lives and the future of the world. Students are given opportunities to work in teams investigating, observing, measuring, reasoning from evidence and using scientific language to describe experiences.

Some of the areas covered in science for grades 3-6 involve chemistry (matter, mixing and dissolving, reversible and non reversible changes), physics (forces and motion, electrical circuits), biology (living things, body systems and biodiversity) and earth and space (phases of the moon, weather and climate and layers of the earth).
